Join our current exhibiting artist Elizabeth Babyn (Her Industry, Reclaimed) for a collaborative workshop at the Mann Art Gallery. Participants are welcome to collaborate on a large, ongoing suspended textile piece (begun in 2019). Babyn will be on site at the Gallery from April 19 - 21, 10AM to 5PM each day. Stay as long or as little as you'd like! 

Babyn utilizes a variety of textile appraoches and up-cycled materials to create large complex, multi-layered wall hangings. Her Industry, Reclaimed is an homage to Babyn's late mother Rollande, as well as to generations of mothers and other women who have toiled and continue to work within the textile industry in domestic, industrial and creative spaces. This project explores a variety of textile processes that women have historically advanced, such as embroidery, mending, sewing, crocheting and more recently needle felting, through the creation of tapestries made of up-cycled textiles.
